The session of the CSTO council of Foreign Ministers took place in Armenia

On June 10, the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan took place in Yerevan in narrow and then in an extended format.

 

The agenda included issues on international and regional security, the development of emergency response mechanisms of the CSTO, as well as the implementation of individual decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council.  

 

During the enlarged session, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia noted that 30 years ago the CSTO member-states made a historical decision to unite efforts for ensuring comprehensive peace and security, which finally led to the establishment of the Collective Security Treaty organization two decades ago.

Minister Ararat Mirzoyan underscored that through joint efforts a reliable basis for responding to challenges and threats, for creating and further developing an effective defense system were provided, aimed at full assurance of the expectations and aspirations of the member-states of the organization.

Emphasizing that the CSTO plays an increasingly important role in ensuring security in the Eurasian region, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia added that it is obvious that the role of the CSTO as a security provider will gradually increase.

At the end of the session the following documents were signed:

  • The decision on the Consultation Plan for 2022-2024 on Foreign Policy, Defense and Security of the Representatives of the CSTO member-states; 
  • The Statement of the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member-states on International Security Issues.

The protocol decision on the data and location of the Regular Session of the CSTO Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs was also approved, according to which the session will be held in Yerevan in the fourth quarter of the current year.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Amenia Nikol Pashinyan received the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member-states within the framework of the session of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers. 

Following the session of the CSTO Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and CSTO Secretary-General Stanislav Zas delivered a statement for the press.

A ceremony dedicated to the redemption of the stamp and the first-day envelope dedicated to the CSTO jubilee and Armenian presidency in the organization was held.
