Foreign Minister of Armenia met with the Deputy Director General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission

On September 19,  Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received the delegation led by Katarína Mathernová, Deputy Director-General for European Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission.

Welcoming the members of the delegation, Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to the high-level political dialogue with the EU and the comprehensive framework of the partnership. Minister underlined that Armenia appreciates the continuous and consistent support of the EU in promoting the country's development agenda, strengthening its democratic institutions.

Both sides emphasized the role of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement as an important impetus for the development of Armenia's relations with the EU and its member states. The parties exchanged views on the next steps for the implementation of the Agreement roadmap.

Minister Mnatsakanyan and Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Mathernova discussed in detail the Government reform agenda, Armenia’s foreign policy priorities and positions on topical international and regional issues. In terms of Government priorities, Minister highlighted reforms in the judicial field, noting that Armenia highly appreciates the expert support and effective coordination provided by international partners in this regard.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership initiative, the interlocutors expressed a conviction that Eastern Partnership is a good platform based on shared values and principles for the development and enhancement of cooperation between the European Union and the six Eastern partner countries. In this context, the parties shared their vision of the enhancement of the initiative.
