Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Vice-President of European Commission

On March 7, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia, met with Andrus Ansip, European Commission Vice-President for Digital Single Market.

Welcoming the guest, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan mentioned, that over the past years Armenia and the European Union have gained a great experience of partnership and working together, and the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Brussels provided a good opportunity to outline the future practical steps towards expanding multifaceted cooperation.

The sides touched upon the prospects of cooperation around digital agenda. In this regard, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan underscored that the advancement of IT, innovation and creative education driven economy is one of the pillars of the development agenda of the Government of Armenia.

Referring to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the Armenian side, which has always been actively engaged within EaP format, will also mark the initiative’s 10th anniversary by organizing an event dedicated to the youth and innovation.

Foreign Minister of Armenia has briefed his interlocutor on the preparatory works of the 23-rd World Congress on Information Technology to be held in Yerevan in October 2019 and underlined that the Congress is one of the biggest international events in that field to be held in Europe for the first time in a decade.
