The meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament and the Chairman of the Estonia-Armenia Parliamentary Group

On February 7, within the framework of the official visit to Tallinn, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a meeting with Toomas Vitsut, the Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu).

Minister Mnatsakanyan commended the role of the parliamentary diplomacy as a platform for further strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and reiterated the commitment of the Armenian side to establish closer cooperation in that field.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed the Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament on the recent political developments in Armenia, underscoring that the priority of the Government is the advancement of the national development agenda based, among others, on the hi-tech driven economy. In this context, the Minister highly appreciated the exchange of views held earlier with the representatives of the Estonian IT companies, as well as the activation of contacts in this sphere between the experts of the two countries.

Touching upon the Armenia-EU partnership, the Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the importance of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement noting that it is not merely a new legal basis of Armenia-EU relations, but also an important tool for Armenia to advance the reforms the Government has initiated based on the popular mandate.

On the same day Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Hannes Hanso, Chairman of the Estonia-Armenia parliamentary group of the Riigikogu.

The interlocutors agreed that the Armenian-Estonian centuries-old partnery relations, which are based on common values, have a potential for further development and expansion and expressed commitment to take practical steps in that direction.

The sides also touched upon the experience and success registered by Armenia in creative education agenda, such as the TUMO Creative Technologies Center, SMART Educational Center, Dasaran.am educational platform, by highlighting the possibility of unfolding cooperation based on the positive experience of two countries.
