Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates

On September 27, a meeting of Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates took place  in New York.

The interlocutors discussed a wide array of issues relating to bilateral and multilateral agenda, outlined the necessity of steps to be taken for further deepening of the existing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

The heads of Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates commended the achievements in the field of tourism.

The Ministers highlighted the contribution of small yet active Armenian community of the UAE to forming warm and friendly relations between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented to his colleague the preparations for the Yerevan Summit of La Francophonie, as well as the priorities of Armenia’s upcoming chairmanship in the organization, highlighting as a priority area the smart development and digital agenda, as well as the promotion of cooperation within this framework.

The Ministers exchanged views on several urgent issues of the regional and international agenda. Touching upon the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to the exclusively peaceful resolution of the conflict under the aegis of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. In this context, the Foreign Minister of Armenia also noted that attempts to transfer the discussions around Nagorno Karabakh conflict to other platforms seriously undermine the efforts of the international community aimed at the establishment of stability and peace in the region.
