24 September, 2018

On September 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who, as part of the delegation headed by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, is in New York to take part in the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, met with Khemaies Jhinaoui, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia.

During the meeting the Foreign ministers touched upon a number of bilateral and multilateral agenda issues.

The interlocutors underscored the readiness of both sides to undertake joint practical steps with the aim of fully using the existing potential for invigorating the political dialogue, including through holding regular political consultations between the Foreign Ministries.

Armenian and Tunisian Foreign Ministers had a detailed talk on preparations for the 17th Summit  of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan, the planned side events, the agenda and documents to be forwarded to participants for approval. Minister Mnatsakanyan briefed his interlocutor on the priorities of Armenia's presidency in the International Organization of La Francophonie, emphasizing the priority direction of smart development and promotion of digital agenda.

Touching upon the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated Armenia's commitment to the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict under the aegis of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairmanship. In this context, the Foreign Minister of Armenia also noted that attempts to move the discussions on the Nagorno Karabakh issue to other platforms undermine the efforts of the international community aimed at establishing stability and peace in the region.
