Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan received the Vice President of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia

On July 27, Armen Papikyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received the delegation headed by the Vice President of the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. H. Mahyudin.

In the course of the meeting Dr. Mahyudin thanked for a warm reception and expressed his satisfaction with productive meetings that he has had. The Vice President of the People's Consultative Assembly informed that he was deeply affected by the visit to the Genocide Museum and attached importance to joint efforts of all countries for the condemnation and prevention of crimes against humanity.

Referring to the centuries-old historical ties between the two peoples, the sides expressed confidence that they were a good precondition for the development of Armenian-Indonesian inter-state relations. Highlighting the importance of effective inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries as well as the cooperation of the friendship groups of two parliaments, the interlocutors expressed hope that active contacts will expand and will gradually encompass many other spheres, including more effective cooperation between the businessmen of the two countries and improvement of trade and economic indicators.

In the context of encouraging business interactions, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented Armenia's competitive advantages, the opportunities created by cooperation with various regional and international integration structures, which could become a good platform for Indonesian investors to enter new markets.

The sides commended the effective cooperation and mutual assistance within international structures.

Thanking for the balanced position of Indonesia on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan presented Armenia's approaches to the settlement of the conflict, considering the attempts of attaching religious aspect to the conflict unacceptable and dangerous. The Indonesian side in its turn emphasized the importance of the settlement of the conflict exclusively through negotiations.
