On December 9 the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations organized a virtual discussion, entitled “Mass Media in Genocide Prevention: The Promise and Peril of the Digital Age”.

Minister Aivazian comprehensively presented to Louise Mushikiwabo the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia and Artsakh, as well as the steps being undertaken to address it.

On 9 December, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Ghevondyan, participated in the 88th meeting of the CIS Economic Council, held in the format of video conferencing.  

The need for objective information sharply augments in times of military conflicts, which was manifested during the last large-scale Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

Azerbaijan, with direct involvement of Turkey and foreign terrorist fighters and mercenaries from the Middle East, launched a large-scale military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh with a clear genocidal intent.

Touching upon the meaning of this resolution, Minister highlighted its importance in the process of recognizing the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, as well as the fair settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Minister Aivazian highly commended the solidarity of France and the French people towards Artsakh and the Armenian people since the first day of the war.

This challenge should not only be a reason for condemning and compassionate calls, but also for putting on the agenda the steps aimed at strengthening the early response mechanisms within the international organizations.
