Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Participated in Side Event on Demographic Resilience
25 September, 2026On September 24, in New York, within the framework of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Robert Abisoghomonyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia, participated and delivered remarks at the side event entitled “Demographic Resilience: Investing in Human Capital for Sustainable Future.”
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade emphasized that the development of human capital and the protection of vulnerable groups are at the core of Armenia’s development priorities. This approach is also reflected in Armenia’s Transformation Strategy 2050, the Government Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia, and the Government Programme for 2026-2030.
Robert Abisoghomonyan highlighted the importance of the Armenia-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030, which emphasizes strengthening of social protection and demographic resilience, as well as other priorities, which include decent work, gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the protection of vulnerable groups.
The Deputy Minister addressed the reforms being implemented in Armenia in the areas of social protection, education and healthcare, aimed at increasing well-being and creating opportunities for decent work. In this context, Robert Abisoghomonyan highlighted the implementation of Armenia's Demographic Strategy 2024-2040, developed with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, as a comprehensive and systematic framework for strengthening demographic resilience.
