Opening of the annual gathering of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and heads of Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad in Gyumri
28 August, 2026At the opening of the annual gathering of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and heads of Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad, held in Gyumri, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan delivered opening remarks.
Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that this year the gathering is particularly significant for two circumstances. It is being held following the parliamentary elections in Armenia and amid new realities. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the continuity of Armenia’s foreign policy in consistently shaping a peaceful and cooperative environment around Armenia, further institutionalizing peace and developing partnerships.
Referring to the second distinctive feature, the Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the importance of promoting international trade ties within the partnership agenda, in line with the new functions of the Ministry.
President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and President of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan delivered addresses at the meeting.
Within the framework of the gathering, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan delivered a speech.
The Prime Minister of Armenia touched upon the foreign policy priorities reflected in the programme of the Government of Armenia and the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad in their implementation.
Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the change in the name of the Ministry is based on a clear concept aimed at delivering concrete results and increasing prosperity through strengthening the economic component of foreign policy. The remarks were followed by a discussion, during which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered questions raised by the ambassadors.
Members of the National Assembly and the Government of Armenia were also present at the opening of the event.
