On July 14, in New York, on the sidelines of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the "Bridging Science, Policy, and Practice to Address the Triple Planetary Crisis: Strengthening Synergies for the SDGs and a Sustainable Post-2030 Future" side event.

In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasised the necessity of addressing the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution through an interconnected approach. In this vein, he highlighted the importance of the Joint Statement on Synergies signed in Belém by the current and incoming presidencies of the Rio Conventions. He added that COP17 could contribute to the further consolidation of this political commitment and the expansion of the international community's support.

In the context of effectively overcoming the triple planetary crisis, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan underscored the importance of an inclusive approach at the national level and ensuring the full engagement of all stakeholders. The Deputy Minister drew the attention of the participants to the steps undertaken by the Government of Armenia in this direction.

The Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed the willingness of Armenia to cooperate with all partners toward strengthening synergies and ensuring a sustainable future, including in its capacity as the incoming Presidency of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
