Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia with the Acting Executive Director of the World Food Programme

On June 30, on the sidelines of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Carl Skau, Acting Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP).

The interlocutors commended the established cooperation between Armenia and WFP, including in ensuring food security and addressing humanitarian needs. During the meeting, ensuring the continuity of the programmes implemented by the WFP in Armenia was emphasized, aimed at strengthening the food system of Armenia, as well as enhancing resilience to emergencies.

The sides highlighted the role of the School Feeding programme in strengthening communities and fostering more resilient food systems.

During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation and the implementation of joint initiatives within the framework of the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be hosted by Armenia this year, were discussed. The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the priorities and initiatives of the COP17 Presidency of Armenia.

The ongoing reform process within the UN was touched upon, emphasizing its importance in increasing the efficiency of UN operations and ensuring the full realization of its mandates.
