Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia with the Chief of Staff of the Office of the UNESCO Director-General

June 24, in Paris, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Dov Lynch, the Chief of Staff of the Office of the UNESCO Director-General.

Robert Abisoghomonyan reiterated the willingness of Armenia to continue constructive and practical cooperation with UNESCO.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation and implementation of joint initiatives with UNESCO within the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Yerevan. In this vein, the importance of adoption and launch of the Global Action Plan on Biodiversity Education, as well as the active engagement of UNESCO in thematic events, including "Education Day", were emphasized.

The Deputy Foreign Minister presented the importance of ensuring high-level participation in the Leaders’ Summit and High-Level Ministerial Segment envisioned within COP17.

Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the continuous support of Armenia to the efforts of UNESCO aimed at advancing education and peace. In this context, the "Education for Peace" resolution tabled by Armenia and adopted unanimously by the UN General Assembly was presented.
