Meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Estonia
10 April, 2026On April 10, at the MFA of Armenia, Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna, who is on an official visit to Yerevan. The ministers first had a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by discussions in an enlarged format with the participation of delegations.
In his opening remarks, Minister Mirzoyan noted: “Dear friends, dear Margus, dear colleagues,
Once again welcome to Armenia. It is a great pleasure and a great honour for me personally and for my team, to have you here on two very specific and joyful occasions. First – opening of the resident Embassy of the Republic of Estonia to Yerevan. This is a significant event, like I said yesterday, indeed a significant milestone in the whole process of deepening the relations between our two republics.
The second good occasion is leveling up the relations between our two ministries: We will shortly be signing the document.
These two events reflect the commitment of both Armenia and Estonia to deepen our relations. We very much appreciate Estonia's support when it comes also to Armenia-EU relations. We attach great importance to Armenia’s cooperation with Nordic-Baltic states, and since you have the chairmanship in this period, please be aware that we, like I said, attach importance to this format. We are very much keen to learn from the experience of established democracies and again, we get all the possible support here as well.
When it comes to economic ties, there is still huge potential to realize, but also we can say that the figures, the numbers are growing and probably this could be the result of cooperation between the ‘Enterprise Armenia’ and the respective agency in Estonia.
The fields that we can indicate for further cooperation are cybersecurity, integrated border management, and digitalization. We just were both participating in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia, and he also, as you can see, attaches great importance to learning from Estonian experience.
So there are a number of areas, there is commitment from both sides and we are looking forward very much to deepening our cooperation.
Welcome to Armenia once again.”
Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and Foreign Minister of Estonia Margus Tsahkna signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing Enhanced Partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
Following the meeting, the ministers held a joint press conference.
On April 9, within the framework of the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna to Armenia, the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of Estonia in Armenia took place.
