Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran
09 January, 2026On January 8, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Yerevan, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi.
During the consultations, the interlocutors touched upon a broad agenda of Armenia–Iran bilateral relations, as well as issues related to regional and international developments.
Vahan Kostanyan and Majid Takht Ravanchi expressed satisfaction with the active dynamics of cooperation between the two countries, which is also reflected in mutual visits at various levels. The determination expressed at the level of the leaders of both countries to elevate relations to the level of strategic partnership was reaffirmed.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for the development of cooperation and the progress of implementation of specific projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan also referred to projects aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, including the new opportunities expected to arise from the implementation of the “TRIPP” project.
