The First Assessment Mission on the Implementation of the Armenia-EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan

On 11 December, a working meeting between the representatives of the European integration, Consular, Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues, International treaties and Law departments and the delegation of the first Assessment Mission on the Implementation of the Armenia-EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

The EU expert mission consisted of sectoral experts from the EU Member States, representatives of the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency and the EU Delegation to Armenia.

During the meeting, Armenia’s current visa policy and recent developments in the human rights protection area, including legislative initiatives, were discussed. The Armenian side reaffirmed its strong commitment to its international obligations in the field of human rights protection. The digital tool of Armenia for strengthening international human rights accountability (AI-NEMRA) was presented to the delegation of the Action Plan assessment mission.

The visit aims to assess Armenia’s progress in implementing the primary benchmarks across all four strands of the Action Plan regarding the legislative and policy frameworks.
