Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated in the General Debate of the 30th Session of the Conference of States Parties of the OPCW
24 November, 2025On November 24, in the Hague, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the General Debate of the 30th Session of the Conference of States Parties of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the unprecedented challenges faced by the non-proliferation regime and emphasized the importance of collective and concerted efforts by international partners aimed at robust instruments of disarmament․
The Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed the commitment of Armenia to the principles and objectives of the Chemical Weapons Convention and to the shared vision of a world free of chemical weapons. Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized that since acceding to the OPCW, Armenia has consistently advanced the agenda aimed at the complete elimination of the chemical weapons and their threat, firmly believing that it can be achieved only via universal adherence of the international community.
The Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated that the peaceful use of chemistry remains a key priority for Armenia.
Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan underscored the willingness of Armenia to deepen its engagement within the OPCW. The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that through effective dialogue with international partners Armenia stands prepared to take steps aimed at upholding the principles of the Convention and advancing its objectives, as well as strengthening responsibility and ensuring absolute prohibition of the use of chemical weapons.
Note: On November 24, 2025, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the OPCW, Ambassador Viktor Biyagov was elected as Chair of the Committee of the Whole of the 30th Session of the Conference of States Parties.
