Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan with the Director General for Biodiversity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature of the Netherlands Mark Roscam Abbing

On October 14, during a visit to The Hague, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan had a meeting with the Director General for Biodiversity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature of the Netherlands Mark Roscam Abbing.

Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan presented the priorities and the vision of Armenia regarding the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Yerevan in 2026 and its effective organization.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia emphasized the key role of the conference in the first global review of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework commitments and, in this context, emphasized the importance of coordinating the efforts of all stakeholders. It was highlighted that the COP17 agenda will include issues related to resource mobilization, the establishment of a sustainable financial mechanism of the Convention, as well as the full inclusion of indigenous peoples and local communities in biodiversity-related decision-making processes.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between Armenia and the Netherlands within the framework of the Conference.

Vahan Kostanyan emphasized the importance of ensuring financial allocations to the Kali Foundation.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the active and continuous high-level political dialogue, the effective and expanding cooperation in areas of strategic significance, as well as the prospects for further enhancement of sectoral collaboration.
