The meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan with Director-General of the OPCW Fernando Arias

On July 16, in the Hague, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Fernando Arias, the Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

During the meeting issues on cooperation between Armenia and the OPCW were discussed.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia reiterated the commitment of Armenia to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention objectives and emphasized the importance of ensuring continued cooperation. Robert Abisoghomonyan briefed his counterpart on the process of legal reforms currently underway in Armenia in this direction.

The meeting emphasized the importance of constructive and cooperative approach by the OPCW member states towards disarmament and non-proliferation in the current security environment.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the challenges posed by rapidly emerging innovative technologies, particularly the use of AI. In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the need to develop relevant international regulations.
