On May 27, in the margins of Yerevan Dialogue international conference Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia delivered opening remarks during the closed door discussion entitled "Strengthening information integrity on climate change and other environmental issues".

In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that this initiative represents a significant step toward effectively addressing global environmental challenges. He noted that launching such an initiative ahead of COP17, which will be held in Armenia in 2026, is especially important. The vision for COP17 includes raising public awareness about environmental protection, promoting transparency, and ensuring information integrity related to climate and biodiversity.

The Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon Armenia’s vision for hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. Among the key priorities highlighted were the effective and inclusive organization of COP17, showcasing Armenia’s rich biodiversity heritage, advancing the implementation and review of key decisions adopted at COP16, and combating disinformation related to biodiversity.

The event was organized in partnership with the Forum on Information and Democracy, as part of workstreams co-chaired by Armenia and Brazil, which aim to address the challenges in the information sector related to environmental protection, in the lead-up to COP30 in Brazil in 2025 and COP17 in Armenia in 2026.

The discussion focused on the challenges of delivering reliable information on climate change and biodiversity, and highlighted the need for international cooperation to enhance transparency and build public trust.
