Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan with Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the U.S. Department of State Jacob McGee

On May 26, on the margins of the Yerevan Dialogue international forum, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Jacob McGee, the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the U.S. Department of State.

During the meeting issues on Armenia-US cooperation in bilateral and multilateral frameworks were touched upon.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed his counterpart on the current state of democratic reforms in Armenia, as well as on achievements and challenges in human rights protection. In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated the commitment of the Government of Armenia to the protection of human rights and the strengthening of resilience.

The Deputy Foreign Minister drew the interlocutor’s attention to recent regional developments, emphasizing the importance of the swift signing of the Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the importance of addressing humanitarian issues, particularly the need to reveal the fate of missing persons and to ensure the release of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages illegally detained in Azerbaijan.
