Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Argentina

On March 25, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Buenos Aires on an official visit, had a meeting with Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic.

Both sides commended the high level of political dialogue between the two countries, based on the long-standing friendly relations of the peoples of Armenia and Argentina. The Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed the role of Argentina in South America as an important partner for the Republic of Armenia, noting that high-level mutual visits are clear proof of that.

During the meeting, both sides expressed willingness to explore new opportunities and deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, economy, high technologies, education and energy sectors. Ministers noted the solid legal base that has been formed between the two countries throughout the past years, at the same time emphasizing the readiness to supplement it in new directions in line with the broadening of cooperation.

The issues of collaboration between the diplomatic schools of the two countries were touched upon.

In the context of promoting trade and economic relations between Armenia and Argentina, the importance of further encouraging investment programs was also stressed.

Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Diana Mondino also touched upon the role of the Armenian community in Argentina as a unique bridge in the development of cooperation between the two countries,

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Argentina also discussed issues on regional security. Minister Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart on the latest developments in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the ongoing negotiations on the draft peace treaty. The importance of ensuring the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, and in general the commitment to the agreements reached at the highest level to date, was emphasized.

In the context of unblocking regional transport and economic communications, Ararat Mirzoyan presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, pointing out the opportunities for development of economy and connectivity, and the project’s potential to contribute to stability in the region.
