Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the ICC

On February 8, in The Hague, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court Päivi Kaukoranta.

Päivi Kaukoranta congratulated Armenia on its membership in the ICC. The interlocutors exchanged views on the measures undertaken and further steps necessary towards the implementation of the Rome Statute, the court’s founding document, emphasizing the close cooperation with the Assembly.

Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the priorities and expectations of Armenia regarding its membership in the ICC which were also voiced during the official welcoming ceremony dedicated to the membership of the Republic of Armenia: they are in line with universal principles of democracy, the rule of law, and the fight against impunity. 

Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the Representative of Armenia on international legal issues, also attended the meeting and presented the details of the steps initiated in the direction of harmonizing the legislation of the Republic of Armenia with the Rome Statute.
