On April 4 in Bucharest the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to strengthening inter-parliamentary ties. Both sides commended the representation of the Armenian community in the Romanian Parliament as well as the role of the Armenian community in Romania which is a unique bridge connecting the two countries. They noted with satisfaction the exhibition organized the day before in the Chamber of Deputies dedicated to the Romanian general of Armenian descent and the regular organization of cultural events that objectively represent the past of the two peoples and outline prospects for the future.

Touching upon the security situation in the South Caucasus, Minister Mirzoyan presented to the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies the recent developments in the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the need for the engagement of the international community and clear steps for the prevention of further escalation in the region and for making the efforts aimed at establishing stability and peace successful. The minister emphasized the imperative to lift the illegal blockade of the Lachine corridor and stressed the importance of following the norms of international law.
