Review of the Armenia's 7th Periodic report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)

On October 12-13, the review of the 7th periodic report of the Republic of Armenia on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) took place within the framework of 83rd session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.

During the dialogue with the CEDAW Committee, Armenia reiterated its commitment to ensure the implementation of the obligations assumed under the Convention. The discussion of the report of Armenia was held in the remote format. 

The Armenian delegation, composed by the representatives of various Ministries, was headed by Tatevik Stepanyan, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, and co-chaired by Arpine Sargsyan, the Deputy Minister of Justice.

The delegation answered numerous questions raised by the experts of the Committee, presenting the steps and efforts applied by the state towards increasing the role of women in political and public life, to ensuring the equality, advancement and rights of women in education, employment, healthcare, economic and social fields.

During the dialogue, the members of the State delegation drew the Committee's attention to the humanitarian crisis resulting from Azerbaijan's aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia, its impact on the most vulnerable groups of the society, as well as the grave crimes committed by Azerbaijani servicemen, particularly against women.
