Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Czech Republic

On July 26, within the framework of his working visit to Czechia, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirozyan met with his counterpart Jan Lipavský.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda of the Armenian-Czech relations. Foreign Ministers emphasized the high-level of mutual visits between the two countries, as well as the implementation of regular consultations between Foreign Ministries aimed at enriching the agenda of political dialogue.

The sides stressed the need for the full utilization of the existing potential in trade and economic relations, activation of business to business contacts and the promotion of investments. In this regard, the sides highlighted the importance of continuous and targeted works within the framework of the Armenian-Czech Intergovernmental Commission and business forums held in both countries.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Jan Lipavský exchanged views on bilateral cooperation for the promotion of democracy, protection of human rights, and strengthening the rule of law. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan also presented the reforms carried out in Armenia. The Foreign Minister of Czechia expressed his country's support to the democratic development of Armenia.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Czech Republic touched upon Armenia-EU partnership. The Foreign Minister of Armenia congratulated the Czech Republic on assuming the chairmanship of the Council of the European Union. The format of the Eastern Partnership was emphasized as an important platform for cooperation with the EU and the EU member states.

Ararat Mirzoyan also presented to Jan Lipavský Armenia's position on the processes aimed at establishing regional peace and stability emphasizing that Azerbaijan's expansionist statements undermine their efforts towards promoting these processes.

During the meeting, they also touched upon the process of the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey.

As a result of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and the Czech Republic held a joint press conference.
