On October 4, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahe Gevorgyan delivered a statement at the 72nd session of the Executive Committee of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Deputy Foreign Minister referred to the humanitarian consequences of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh on September 27, 2020, stressing that more than 91,000 people were displaced as a result of the war, out of whom 88% were women and children. He stressed that the Armenian side considers the impeding of provision of humanitarian aid to Artsakh as unacceptable, and expects the active support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on resolving the issue of forcibly displaced persons.

Vahe Gevorgyan reassured that Armenia is committed to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict which will also include addressing the issue of the return of all Armenians to their former places of residence in Nagorno Karabakh. The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his conviction that the provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Artsakh must be carried out regardless of any other circumstances.
