07 September, 2021

On September 7, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Artsakh Davit Babayan.

The Foreign Ministers commended the high level of cooperation established between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Artsakh, and comprehensively discussed the steps towards further deepening the political dialogue and coordinating positions on core issues of foreign policy agenda.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the situation in Artsakh following the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression and the work carried out on the ground to address humanitarian issues. In this context, the Foreign Ministers particularly emphasized the urgent repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians with no preconditions, as well as the creation of proper conditions for the restoration of the rights of the people of Artsakh, especially the displaced Armenians of Artsakh and for ensuring their comprehensive security.

Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Artsakh stressed the need to resume the process of peaceful settlement and the comprehensive and lasting resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Davit Babayan once again stressed the inadmissibility of provocative actions by the Azerbaijani armed forces on the line of contact with the Artsakh Defense Army and against the sovereign territory of Armenia, which undermines the efforts aimed at regional security and stability.
