Foreign Minister of France Jean-Yves Le Drian sent a congratulatory message to Ararat Mirzoyan on assuming the position of the Foreign Minister of Armenia, noting:

“Honorable Mr. Minister,

On the occasion of assuming the post of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, it is my pleasure to extend my cordial and warm congratulations, expressing my gratitude in advance for the prospect of working closely with you in an atmosphere of trust.

Your country has faced a number of security, economic and health challenges. I would like to reiterate France's full support for the Armenian people who are going through this difficult phase.

France and Armenia enjoy privileged relations based on deep historical and cultural ties and a rich agenda. The quality of the Armenian-French political dialogue encourages us to deepen our economic cooperation in the interests, in particular, of unblocking and diversifying the Armenian economy.

France will continue supporting Armenia in addressing the consequences of the deadly conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to numerous human losses, and in its capacity as a Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, will remain committed to the quest for a lasting settlement of the conflict.

If the recent clashes underline the need to work on Your country's border delimitation and demarcation, we hope that the positive dynamic following the exchanges of prisoners of war and the mined area maps will contribute to rebuilding trust between the parties. France plays a peacekeeping role in the South Caucasus region and stands alongside Armenia to achieve the essential and long-awaited peace.

Congratulating you once again, please accept, honorable Ministers, the assurances of my highest consideration."
