Meeting of Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian at the National Assembly of France

On December 9, Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian held a meeting with François Dumas, the Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces of the National Assembly of France. The Deputies of the French-Armenian Friendly Council also participated in the meeting.

The interlocutors highly commended the privileged nature of the Armenian-French friendly relations, anchored on the traditions and the common values tracing back for centuries.

During the meeting the regional situation and the steps being undertaken to cope with the consequences of the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression were comprehensively discussed.

Minister Aivazian highly appreciated the resolution adopted by the National Assembly of France a few days ago as an important milestone for the process of recognizing the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, as well as the fair settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Touching upon the Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Artsakh with the direct involvement of Turkey and foreign terrorist fighters, Minister Aivazian highly commended the solidarity of France and the French people towards Artsakh and the Armenian people since the first day of the war.

Touching upon the imperative for addressing the humanitarian catastrophe in Artsakh, Minister Aivazian highlighted the creation of appropriate conditions for the return of the displaced Armenians of Artsakh to their places of residence, the restoration and protection of their rights and interests. Both sides stressed the importance of preserving the historical-cultural and religious heritage of Artsakh in the territories under the Azerbaijani control.
