Meeting of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with the Members of the National Assembly of France
27 October, 2020On October 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received the delegation of the Deputies of the French National Assembly in Armenia.
Welcoming the guests Minister Mnatsakanyan highly appreciated the visit of the French Parliamentarians and their solidarity during this challenging time for the people of Artsakh. The French Parliamentarians shared their impressions of the meetings with the high-level officials of Armenia and Artsakh held within the framework of the visit.
The main subject of the meeting has been the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone resulting from the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan. Minister Mnatsakanyan drew attention of the guests to the gross violations of international humanitarian law and numerous war crimes committed by Azerbaijani armed forces, among others specifically emphasizing the deliberate targeting of civilians and infrastructure, humiliating treatment and killing of the prisoners of war.
Touching upon Turkey’s increasing negative involvement in the region manifested in its direct military-technical support to Azerbaijan and the deployment of foreign terrorist fighters in the conflict zone, Minister Mnatsakanyan stressed that such a role is not only an immediate existential threat to the security of the people of Artsakh, but also to the regional security and stability.
In this context Minister Mnatsakanyan commended the efforts of the representatives of the French Parliament towards condemning the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression and voicing the importance of recognizing the implementation of the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh.
The sides underlined the need for the immediate implementation of the agreements on cessation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
