On October 19, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held a phone conversation with Wendy Morton, UK Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas.

The main subject of the conversation was the situation resulting from the large-scale aggression unleashed by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh. Minister Mnatsakanyan drew his interlocutor's attention to the numerous facts of atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces against the civilian population, cruelties and murders of prisoners of war appearing under its control, continuous targeting of civilian settlements and vital infrastructure, shelling of religious and cultural monuments.

Permanent Secretary Morton expressed her deepest condolences to the civilian casualties, resulting from the hostilities.

The interlocutors touched upon the need to implement the ceasefire agreements reached on October 10 and October 17. In this regard, Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the violation of these agreements by Azerbaijan once again demonstrates the latter's inability to respect its own obligations and to resort from its aspirations of solving this conflict through military means. The Foreign Minister expressed deep concern that such behavior of Azerbaijan is blatantly supported and encouraged by Turkey, which in turn is trying to advance its expansionist goals by destabilizing the regional security.

Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated Armenia's commitment to an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict and the establishment of a sustainable ceasefire maintained through verification mechanisms.
