Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan's phone conversation with Foreign Minister of Georgia

On June 5, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a phone conversation with his Georgian counterpart David Zalkaliani.

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia exchanged views on the steps taken at the national level aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and addressing its social-economic consequences. 

Foreign Minister of Georgia expressed his solidarity to Armenia in the fight against the pandemic and reiterated the readiness of the Georgian government to provide assistance.

Minister Mnatsakanyan highly valued the close cooperation between different state agencies of Armenia and Georgia, regular contacts and mutual assistance in addressing the challenges caused by the pandemic, including organizing the return of Armenian and Georgian citizens to homelands.

Foreign Ministers Mnatsakanyan and Zalkaliani discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral agenda. In this regard, Minister Mnatsakanyan underscored the importance of expanding and deepening practical cooperation between the two peoples based on centuries-old friendship and strategic interconnection in all directions outlined by the two leaders during the visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to Georgia in March. Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed his invitation to Foreign Minister Zalkaliani to visit Armenia.

In context of multilateral cooperation, the sides touched upon the upcoming events within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.

Foreign Ministers Mnatsakanyan and Zalkaliani exchanged views on security issues, emphasizing the importance to maintain international and regional peace and security amid the pandemic.
