Phone conversation of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Foreign Minister of India

On April 21, at the initiative of th Armenian side, a phone conversation was held between the Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the Foreign Minister of India.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and India touched upon the challenges encountered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as steps being undertaken at national level towards addressing its social-economic consequences. Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan expressed his solidarity to the friendly people of India to promptly overcome the pandemic and its consequences.

The sides mutually emphasized the importance of international cooperation amid the fight against the pandemic, including through mutual assistance, exchange of expertise, as well as free and safe transfer of the citizens, especially the students to their homeland. On behalf of the Government of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan expressed gratitude to the authorities of India for the assistance provided to Armenia in healthcare and other spheres.

During the phone conversation Foreign Ministers also touched upon a wide range of issues on bilateral agenda, reiterating the mutual readiness to continue the effective cooperation in the fields of mutual interest and to take practical steps for the further development of the Armenian-Indian relations.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and India also exchanged views on international and regional urgent issues.
