Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan’s Meeting with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

On September 26, FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is on a working visit to New York for the UN General Assembly met with Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission

Minister Mnatsakanyan expressed his gratitude to the High Representative Mogherini for support and cooperation.

Minister Mnatsakanyan and High Representative Mogherini discussed a wide range of issues concerning the Armenia-EU agenda. The sides stressed the role of CEPA in supporting reforms in Armenia and expanding cooperation between the sides. In this regard, Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized Armenia’s priority to launch the visa liberalization dialogue and promote people-to-people contacts.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership and the prospects of development of the initiative. Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized that EaP is not a format of the neighborhood with the EU Member States but a platform of cooperation with the states geographically located in the eastern part of Europe on the basis of common European values and principles.   

The head of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia and High Representative of the Union exchanged views on pressing issues on the regional agenda. 

Minister Mnatsakanyan presented to his counterpart the recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh Peace Process and the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, which took place on September 23 in New York, under the auspices of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
