Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan's meeting with the Minister of National Defense of Lebanon Elias Bou Saab

On September 20, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan received the delegation headed by Elias Bou Saab, Minister of National Defense of the Lebanese Republic.

Welcoming the Lebanese delegation, Minister Mnatsakanyan noted with satisfaction that Armenia and Lebanon are entwined with strong historical friendly ties based on mutual trust and respect. The sides underscored the mutual readiness for further steps to maintain an active dialogue at different levels aimed at strengthening and enriching the cooperation agenda which includes different fields of cooperation.

In this regard, the interlocutors attached great importance to preparations for the second session of the Armenian-Lebanese Intergovernmental Commission, which will give a new impetus for outlining the prospects of expanding cooperation in politics, defense, culture, tourism, IT, agriculture and many other fields.

Both sides commended proactivity of the Armenian community in the social and political life of Lebanon and its role as a guardian of Armenian identity and a bridge between the two countries and peoples.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a number of pressing issues on the regional and international agenda. Foreign Minister of Armenia noted that due to historical ties and the Armenian presence in the Middle East, Armenia is closely following the processes in the region.

Both parties highly appreciated Armenia's active engagement in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions in the region.
