Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan meets with Viktoras Pranckietis, the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the members of Lithuania-Armenia friendship group

On September 16, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan who is in Lithuania on an official visit met Viktoras Pranckietis, the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania. The meeting was also attended by Gediminas Kirkilas, the Deputy Speaker and the Chair of the Committee on European Affairs.

Commending the active dialogue between the Parliaments of the two countries, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan and Speaker of the Seimas Viktoras Pranckietis emphasized the need for further steps to make the most of the potential of the parliamentary platform. In this context, Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the forthcoming visit of Viktoras Pranckietis to Armenia will give an additional impetus to expanding and deepening of interparliamentary relations.

Representing the reform agenda as one of the priorities of the Government of Armenia, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the Government has a political will to carry out the reforms on the reinforcement of democracy, rule of law and human rights in the framework of the broad mandate given by the people.

Touching upon the Armenia-EU Partnership, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which is the new legal basis for relations with the EU and its member states. The Minister highly appreciated Lithuania's support for deepening cooperation within the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The interlocutors exchanged views on a number of issues on international and regional agenda.

On the same day Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan held a meeting with Guoda Burokienė, the Chairman of the largest friendship group in Lithuania's Seimas- the Lithuania-Armenia Friendship Group and some of its members.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the perspectives of cooperation and exchange of expertise in the primary areas for both countries such as Information Technologies, smart development, environment protection, etc. The Foreign Minister briefed the parliamentarians on the foreign policy priorities of Armenia, Armenia's principled position and approaches to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Interlocutors agreed that the peaceful resolution of the conflict has no alternative.
