Zohrab Mnatsakanyan's meeting with Rodolfo Nin Novoa, the Foreign Minister of Uruguay

On August 14, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Rodolfo Nin Novoa, the Foreign Minister of Uruguay, who is in Armenia on an official visit.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Mnatsakanyan commended the political dynamics between Armenia and Uruguay, expressing confidence that this visit of Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa will contribute to further strengthening of the Armenian-Uruguayan relations and the establishment of broader cooperation between the countries on both bilateral and multilateral platforms. As main areas of cooperation, the sides identified the spheres of trade, economy, agriculture, tourism, information technology, innovation, and creative education, underlining the mutual readiness to take steps towards creating platforms for active contacts between those directly in charge of the certain sphere.

The Foreign Ministers commended the close cooperation established on the international platforms. The Armenian Foreign Minister presented Armenia's consistent steps on the international fora aimed at the prevention of genocides and crimes against humanity.

Referring to the Armenian community, which has a great contribution to the social-political life of Uruguay and maintains close ties with Armenia, Minister Mnatsakanyan thanked the authorities of Uruguay for their support to the community, the favorable environment created for the preservation of Armenian culture, language, and identity.

The parties had a comprehensive exchange of views on international and regional security issues. Minister Mnatsakanyan briefed his counterpart on the principled position and approaches of Armenia regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, stressing that there is no alternative to the peaceful settlement of the conflicts.

At the end of the meeting, the sides held a joint press conference.

On the same day, the Foreign Minister of Uruguay visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex and paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
