The visit of Foreign Minister of Armenia to Georgia commenced: Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with David Zalkaliani, Foreign Minister of Georgia

On July 24, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan's official visit to Georgia commenced by the meeting with Foreign Minister of Georgia David Zalkaliani.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of first official bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of Georgia, which is another step towards further strengthening and expanding Armenian-Georgian friendly relations.

Foreign Ministers Mnatsakanyan and Zalkaliani touched upon a number of issues of Armenian-Georgian cooperation. Both sides highly valued the existing close cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries and highlighted the importance of holding regular sectoral consultations.

Within the context of utilizing the potential between the two countries in trade-economic sphere, the sides especially highlighted the outcomes of the 10th session of Armenian-Georgian Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Yerevan, as well as the Armenian-Georgian Business Forum held in June in Dilijan, while underscoring the mutual readiness to continue the practical steps in that direction. 

Ministers underlined the importance of further developing cooperation in the sphere of tourism and maintaining the achievements reached with this regards, initiating programmes in the area of high technologies.

Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and David Zalkaliani also valued the cooperation in international fora as well as the strengthening of collaboration and reciprocal support within various multilateral platforms. As EU partner countries, the Foreign Ministers touched upon the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership and exchanged views on the vision of the future of the initiative.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia touched upon a number of regional and international issues.

Minister Mnatsakanyan presented to his counterpart the approaches and principled position of Armenia on settlement process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Both sides stressed that the exclusively peaceful settlement of the regional conflicts has no no alternative.

At the end of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia made statements for the press.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and his delegation visited the "Heroes" Square in Tbilisi and laid a wreath to the memorial.
