On July 19, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is on a working visit to Washington DC, met with Luis Almagro, the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States.

Touching upon the activities of the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, held in Washington DC the day before, both sides highlighted the importance of the international community to undertake joint efforts against limitation of the freedom of  religion, against demonstration of violence or discrimination on the basis of their religion or belief. 

Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated Armenia's readiness to strengthen and deepen cooperation with the Organization of American States and its member states underscoring the bridging role of the Organization within this context. Both sides stressed the importance of using the multilateral platforms of international organizations to advance global issues: protection of human rights and democracy, promotion of the development agenda and strengthening of international and regional security.

The sides also touched upon a number of regional and international issues and developments, particularly highlighting the settlement of existing conflicts exclusively through peaceful means.
