The Meeting of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia

On June 26, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, received Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia and his delegation. 

Welcoming the guests, Minister Mnatsakanyan commended regular visits of the EU Special Representative and holding such meetings to discuss regional problems and issues within the mandate of the EU Special Representative. 

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan briefed his interlocutor on the latest developments on Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and the details of consultations held with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan in Washington D.C. under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. Touching upon the escalation on the Line of Contact prior to the meeting, Minister Mnatsakanyan underlined the negative impact of such developments on the peace process. 

For the advancement of the peace process the Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the importance of creating an atmosphere conducive to peace and, within this framework, strengthening the ceasefire regime, implementing risk reduction measures and excluding warmongering.
