The Meeting of Foreign Minister Zohrap Mnatsakanyan with Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

On June 25, in Geneva, Foreign Minister Zohrap Mnatsakanyan met with Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

The interlocutors highly appreciated the effective cooperation between Armenia and different institutions of the UN Office at Geneva and the active engagement of Armenia in their activities, which contributes to promoting human rights and democracy in the country. 

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Michael Møller exchanged views on implementation of the goals, included in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

The Foreign Minister reiterated Armenia’s readiness and commitment on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting that the SDG nationalization process is accompanied by the programme of ambitious reforms agenda, initiated by the new Government of Armenia. 

In this regard the Foreign Minister of Armenia presented reforms, being implemented by the Government of Armenia in the spheres of strengthening democracy and the rule of law, protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. As a priority of Government’s development agenda Minister Mnatsakanyan particularly stressed advancement of the innovation, high technologies and creative education driven economy. 

The sides highlighted the coordination of efforts of international and regional organizations in addressing new directions within the framework of international cooperation such as digitalization, artificial intelligence and robotization.
