Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan's meeting with Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations

On May 20, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Åsa Regnér, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women.

Welcoming the guest Minister Mnatsakanyan presented the recent achievements registered in Armenia in the field of protecting gender equality and promoting women’s rights, by underscoring that women's rights enjoy occupy a special place in the Government's agenda. The Minister touched upon the challenges existing in these fields and the possible ways to address them.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia touched upon the country’s Chairmanship in the Commission on the Status of Women for the period 2020-2021, as well as briefed on Armenia’s steps and initiatives within the Economic and Social Council, the Human Rights Council, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

The sides exchanged views on the current activities of Armenia within the international formats regarding women's rights and the ongoing programs.

Åsa Regner expressed full support of the UN Women to the programs being initiated by the Government of Armenia in the field of protection of women’s rights, as well as presented a number of cooperation proposals.
