On April 29, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Yukiya Amano, the Director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Welcoming the guest, Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the IAEA. Underlining that since 2018 Armenia has been holding the post of the Vice Chairman of the IAEA Board of Governors, the Foreign Minister of Armenia highly appreciated the General Director's support to the Armenian side regarding the implementation of that important and responsible function.

Both sides particularly emphasized the importance of consistent contacts in such format in the context of outlining the prospects of further deepening of cooperation, as well as taking practical steps towards that direction.

In the course of the talks, the sides touched upon a number of issues on the agenda of collaboration between Armenia and the IAEA, in particular, extending the operation term of the Metsamor nuclear power plant, nuclear energy development and nuclear security.
