Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with the Ambassadors of La Francophonie countries accredited in Ethiopia

On April 4, within the margins of his official visit to Addis-Ababa, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with the Ambassadors of La Francophonie countries accredited in Ethiopia.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia drew the attention of La Francophonie Ambassadors to the оoutcomes of the 17th summit of the Francophonie International Organization held in Yerevan last October. In that context the Ambassadors of the Francophone countries congratulated Armenia on successful organization and holding of the Yerevan Summit of La Francophonie.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the priorities of Armenia's two-year presidency in the Summit, highlighting the economic component of cooperation between La Francophone countries, including the implementation of relevant events and programs.

Touching upon Armenia's foreign policy priorities, Minister Mnatsakanyan underlined that his official visit to Ethiopia attests to the commitment of Armenia to give a new impetus to relations with the African continent, and La Francophonie is a solid platform for exchanging views and effective experiences which provides an opportunity for practical steps aimed at resuming active dialogue with the African countries sharing the Francophone values.

The Foreign Minister underscored that under the motto "Living Together" Armenia intends to promote the humanitarian values during its presidency, as well as the unity of Francophone societies and further strengthening of peace and prosperity in the Francophone region. With this regard, it was emphasized that Armenia is willing to work closely with other international structures, particularly the United Nations and the African Union, to implement the above-mentioned goals and priorities.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stressed that the Yerevan Summit reiterated Armenia's commitment to the values of the Organization based on cultural diversity, tolerance and humanism, as well as promoting French language, francophone values, strengthening of youth engagement, advancing the digital agenda, ensuring equality between men and women.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and Francophonie Ambassadors exchanged views on Armenia's foreign policy priorities, challenges which La Francophonie faces and the joint steps towards addressing them.
