Permanent Representative of Armenia, Ambassador Armen Papikyan presented his letters of credence to IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano

On February 6, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Austria and newly appointed Permanent Representative of Armenia to international organisations in Vienna Armen Papikyan presented his letters of credence to the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano.

During the meeting that followed the ceremony of handing over the credentials, the IAEA Director General congratulated Armen Papikyan on assuming the office and highlighted the importance of cooperation with Armenia, expressing in this context the readiness of the Agency to continue supporting Armenia in its efforts of raising nuclear energy security.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Ambassador Armen Papikyan highly appreciated the support in the area of peaceful use of nuclear energy provided by the IAEA to Armenia for years, and the active collaboration in the framework of technical cooperation programmes.

The interlocutors touched upon the prospects of cooperation and in this context agreed on the importance of high level bilateral contacts.

At the end of the meeting, the IAEA Director General and Ambassador Papikyan, in his capacity of Vice-Chairman of the IAEA Board of Governors, exchanged views over the agenda issues of the Board.
