Working visit of Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian to Uruguay

On October 31, Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimian was in Montevideo to hold the 2nd round of political consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay.

At the meeting with the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Deputy Foreign Minister Ariel Bergamino, the sides touched upon the traditional friendly ties between the peoples of Armenia and Uruguay, and acknowledged the high quality of relations between the two countries. The Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the recent opening of the Consulate-General of Uruguay in Yerevan.

During the political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Uruguay, the sides discussed a number of issues of the bilateral agenda, regional political issues and prospects for the expansion of cooperation within international organizations. An agreement was reached on the intensification of high-level contacts and the expansion of legal and treaty framework, especially in the fields of education and social security.

During his visit, Ashot Hovakimian met with the Minister of Tourism of Uruguay Liliam Kechichian, the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay Roberto Siazaro, and members of the Uruguay-Armenia inter-parliamentary friendship group.

Ashot Hovakimian also visited the Saint Nerses Shnorhali Armenian Apostolic church in Montevideo, where he met with representatives of the Armenian community in Uruguay.
