Meeting with US National Security Advisor in the office of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia

On October 25, at the premises of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, acting Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with US National Security Advisor John Bolton.

Welcoming the guests, Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan noted: “It is especially noteworthy that such a high-level American delegation is arriving in Armenia in this critical period for the Armenian people. I would like to emphasize that Armenia places great importance on the development and strengthening of bilateral political, economic and trade relations with the United States.”

US National Security Advisor John Bolton noted in his reply: “I am happy to be in Armenia to emphasize the importance of our bilateral relations and to address those relations as well as a broad range of issues affecting the region. I attach great importance to the key strategic and security issues of mutual interest, including US policy towards Iran, Russia and Syria, as well as this opportunity to examine our joint efforts towards increasing regional stability. We support the democratic changes taking place in Armenia which presage a freer, more prosperous and more independent future.”

During the meeting, the sides discussed a broad range of bilateral agenda issues and the foreign policy priorities of the two countries, and exchanged thoughts on pressing regional and international issues.

Both sides emphasized the important role of the Armenian community in the United States in the development of US-Armenian relations.
