Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media

On October 23, the acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Harlem Desir, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.

The interlocutors commended the close and effective cooperation between the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and relevant state bodies of the Republic of Armenia, as well as efforts of the Government aimed at ensuring freedom of speech and press in the country.

The sides underlined that this visit is a good opportunity to get a first hand information about recent changes in Armenia and to outline steps towards more effective use of potential of cooperation within the mandate of the OSCE Representative Office.

Touching upon the recent internal political developments, Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated the commitment of the Government of Armenia to continue the implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing democracy. The acting Minister noted that the broad mandate given by people is targets specific issues: fight against corruption, strengthening of rule of law and justice, ensuring equal conditions in social and economic spheres. In this regard the interlocutors highlighted the importance of cooperation between Armenia and international structures.
