Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia received the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus

On October 22, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, acting Foreign Minister of Armenia, received Rudolf Michalka, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

Welcoming the guest, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan congratulated Rudolf Michalka on his appointment in this responsible position and wished him all success in his mission.

Rudolf Michalka presented the agenda and steps he will pursue in the position of the Special Representative for the South Caucasus.

The sides touched upon the developments in the region, exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative.

At the guest’s request, acting Minister Mnatsakanyan touched upon recent internal political developments in Armenia, underscoring that the government, based on the broad mandate given by the people, pursues the process of reforms aimed at fighting corruption, strengthening the rule of law and justice, ensuring equal conditions in the social and economic spheres. Acting Foreign Minister reiterated the commitment of the Armenian authorities to conduct snap elections in line with international standards. In this regard, he highlighted the importance of cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR and other international institutions.

While briefing on Armenia's position and approaches towards the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, acting Minister Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed the commitment of the Armenian side to the exclusively peaceful settlement of conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

With this regards, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stressed that Armenia attaches great importance to establishment of an environment of security and peace, underlining that our international partners should refrain from all the actions which lead to the arms race in the region and increase the risks of instability.
